Week of May 29th, 2012

Welcome Back from the Long Weekend!
I hope it was the best you've had yet!

Now, onto the fun stuff...

Literacy:

Reading:
We continue to work on reading and keeping up with our independent reading books.  I am definitely getting a few ideas for some summer reads!

Writing:
We have been SUPER busy with writing projects this week.  Everyone finished their final poetry books, are finishing up their creative choice projects and making end of the year cards for our buddies and others.  We also have started to work on our memory books.  I personally still look at ones I made when I was in elementary school and am so glad I made one!!  So fun!!

Math:
We finished up our liquid capacity part of the unit by admiring our awesome "Gallon People".  So creative!!  We then moved onto time, particularly "elapsed time".  We created a schedule for a trip to Noah's Ark and a schedule for our animals for our "Measuring Penny" project.  Definitely a highlight of math this week.  We also reviewed measuring temperature both Celsius and Fahrenheit.  We will review on Friday and then have a measurement assessment on Monday.  I have no doubt that students will do FANTASTIC!

Social Studies:
We're getting close to the end of the Hacker Trail!  We had a few fates occur due to some trail decisions we had to make.  We also wrote a trail journal.  Keep up those bonus projects through next Tuesday!

I will leave you with pictures from our ropes course trip!

Have a fantastic weekend!
